The GeoBlock® System is a series of permeable, high-strength; interlocking units designed to offer turf protection and load support in traffic areas. The units create a flexible structural bridge system within the topsoil layer to support and distribute concentrated loads. The GeoBlock® System is available in two styles to most cost-effectively accommodate light-to-heavy load requirements.
Problem: Many secondary roads have narrow right of ways that also have no shoulders that can support the weight of traffic or utility trucks. These shoulders become rutted and collect standing water that makes the shoulder become unstable and unable to maintain any kind of weight from a vehicle. Soil erosion and poor maintenance then occur and the problem becomes a eye sore as well.
Solution: Excavate along roadway to a depth to install an 80% stone 20% soil base mix to provide a stable base. Depth of base will determine the weight load to be carried. Outside of base area, the soil grade should provide positive drainage away from the road. Install the GeoBlock System along the road edge to provide a stable shoulder. Infill cells with soil and grade to a positive drainage away from road. Seed and fertilize for fast reestablishment of vegetation. Cover work area with a straw blanket to provide erosion protection and turf establishment during grow in.
